Oude IJssel Race

General information for our international competitors.

The Oude IJssel Race is for skiffs and doubles (2x/2-) only.

The Oude IJssel forms a natural border between the regions, the Liemers and the Achterhoek. It is a fairly wide river that winds its way through the landscape; its gentle banks and sheltered location ensure that wind and waves are hardly ever a hindrance. The Oude IJssel has very little shipping traffic and even this comes to a halt during the race. The race starts in Doesburg near the lock. The finish is 12 km upriver in Doetinchem. Along the way you pass several bridges, a windmill and, for example, the castle at Laag Keppel.

There’s a prize for the fastest rower in each category. In addition there are special prizes for the fastest rowers after corrections per category (for example, ladies skiff or mens 2) and the fastest after corrections overall. To reach the final result we use correction factors for age and boat type. Click further for the current race records.

The Oude IJssel Race is organised by the rowing club ARV de Ank in Doetinchem together with Daventria in Deventer.
